What issues are left before 5.4.2

jjordan
What issues are being waited on to release 5.4.2?  AMQ-2736 and AMQ-2935
being fixed are huge for us, we have been dealing with them since 5.4.0
came out and we tried to use it.  Currently we are running a 5.5
SNAPSHOT build on our test servers with those fixes in it and things
seem much improved.  Any idea when 5.4.2 vote will come up so we can
plan on testing/deploying it to our production environment?

Thanks!

+1.  ;)

I'm also waiting for a 5.4.2 release.
The issues that have come up on the mailing list have left me to believe that it's best we stay with 5.3.2 until these are fixed.

As far as I know, the next planned release was going to be 5.5.0. But
I see no reason why we couldn't do a 5.4.2 release. Especially given
that those two issues were rather popular (see the number of watchers
and votes on each).

I'd say +1 to a 5.4.2 release. Any opinions from anyone one way or another?

Since there is no 5.4.x branch, I hazard a guess that the release be
cut from the trunk. But should I also cut a branch for 5.4.x?And since
the trunk is currently marked as 5.5-SNAPSHOT, I will need to change
to 5.4.2.

Re: What issues are left before 5.4.2

Hi,

https://issues.apache.org/activemq/browse/AMQ-2980 is still being
worked on (priority messaging for JDBC) and it's the last issue that's
blocking the release. Hopefully it'll be settled really soon.

BTW. There's no separate branch as there's no any changes that goes to
5.5 and will not be included in 5.4.2 (like wireformat changes), so
there's no need for one. We'll release it from the current trunk. The
version numbers will be adjusted during the release process.

Cheers

Re: What issues are left before 5.4.2

finally got to the bottom of
https://issues.apache.org/activemq/browse/AMQ-2980 and
https://issues.apache.org/activemq/browse/AMQ-2985.
From my perspective that is the end of the blockers.

Is it possible issue AMQ-3027 could be evaluated prior to this release?  This is documented functionality that may be working incorrectly.

-Thanks

Think it would be good to get both of these sorted for 5.4.2 also as
they should be quick.
/bin/sh version of the new start script -
https://issues.apache.org/activemq/browse/AMQ-2453
option to disable configuration validation -
https://issues.apache.org/activemq/browse/AMQ-2939

Mark, on AMQ-3027, if you can provide a test case it would help.

Re: What issues are left before 5.4.2

We use Apache NMS here.  Would providing a test case with .NET showing the problem be beneficial?  We don't use Java clients so wouldn't be able to provide that.

It looks like all the issues Dejan and Gary wanted included in a 5.4.2
release have been completed.

Are we ready to roll a release candidate now?

Could I convince you to consider the patch for 3028 (https://issues.apache.org/activemq/browse/AMQ-3028)?

That would be greatly appreciated.

SVN revision 1038566 addresses AMQ-3028.  I would appreciate having it in the build.
